Our Los Angeles office sits at 777 South Alameda Street Downtown Los Angeles, 2nd Floor, Suite 2B, Los Angeles, CA 90021, in downtown Los Angeles. It handles California drop-offs and pickups, and it is also where documents posted in from every other state are received and processed.
California apostilles are issued by the Secretary of State, with offices in Sacramento and Los Angeles. Being in the city means a document can be walked in rather than posted, which is what makes same-day processing realistic here in a way it is not in most states.
If getting downtown is inconvenient, a commissioned mobile notary travels to you anywhere in Los Angeles County and the surrounding area. For a document that needs a signature witnessed, that is usually the simpler route: the signature has to happen in front of the notary, not beforehand.
Los Angeles generates a particular mix of work. Entertainment contracts and corporate records going to Europe and Asia, dual citizenship files for Italy and Mexico, adoption paperwork, and vital records from a county recorder that is one of the largest in the country.

Los Angeles specifics worth knowing
- The notary must be California-commissioned for a California apostille. A document notarized in Nevada goes to Nevada even if you live in Los Angeles.
- LA County certified copies come from the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk. Informational copies marked as not valid for identity purposes cannot be apostilled.
- Same-day is genuinely possible here when a document reaches us before 10am and is already correct. It is the exception rather than the rule, so tell us your deadline before booking.
- Consulates are not the same as apostilles. Los Angeles has consulates for most countries, but a Hague-member destination needs an apostille, not a consulate visit. The country checker settles which.
- Getting downtown takes longer than you think. Between traffic and parking, a mobile notary who comes to you often works out simpler than making the trip twice.

Apostille Services in Los Angeles: common questions
Where is your Los Angeles office?
777 South Alameda Street Downtown Los Angeles, 2nd Floor, Suite 2B, Los Angeles, CA 90021, in downtown Los Angeles. Please book a drop-off appointment before visiting, so someone is expecting your document.
Can I get an apostille the same day in Los Angeles?
Often, yes. California is one of the few states where it is realistic, if the document reaches us before 10am and is already in acceptable form. Tell us the deadline when you book so we can confirm rather than guess.
Do I have to come to the office?
No. Post the original in, upload it where the document allows, or book a mobile notary who comes to you. The office is a convenience, not a requirement.
My document is from another state. Can your LA office still handle it?
Yes. Post it to us here and we route it to the state that issued or notarized it. Only the document has to travel, not you. See our offices for the full picture.
Do you handle documents for the consulates in Los Angeles?
Yes, for non-Hague destinations that require embassy or consulate legalization after the apostille stage. Check the country checker first: most destinations need only an apostille, and a consulate visit would be wasted.
Can I park there?
There is parking on site and nearby. If driving downtown is inconvenient, a mobile notary who comes to you often works out simpler and no more expensive than making the trip.
