Utah Now Offers Online Ordering and Digital Apostille Delivery

On September 3, 2026, the Utah Office of the Lieutenant Governor announced online ordering for apostille and authentication requests, along with optional digital (electronic) delivery of the finished apostille.

What Utah has announced

According to the Utah Authentications website, eligible customers can now submit a request entirely online through ApostilleXpress, a third-party platform provided under a state contract. The steps are to create an account, upload or submit documents, pay online, and receive the result.

Customers who choose digital delivery receive the apostille electronically. Each recipient gets an email with instructions to download the e-Apostille, and each one carries a unique certificate number that can be checked in Utah’s approved e-Register.

Cost and limits

Utah states that digital delivery carries a separate charge of $69.95, collected by the state’s contracted provider. That is in addition to any other fees for the request.

Digital delivery is not available for Vital Records. That includes birth and death certificates and any other document issued by the Utah Division of Vital Records and Statistics.

Who this affects

Anyone sending a Utah-issued or Utah-notarized document abroad now has an online route in addition to mail or an in-person visit. The announcement says “eligible” customers, so not every request will qualify. Utah’s page does not appear to change who is allowed to receive an apostille, only how the request is submitted and delivered.

What to confirm before you rely on it

  • Whether your document type is eligible for online ordering.
  • Whether the destination country or receiving agency accepts an electronic apostille. Many still expect a paper original, and that is decided by the receiving side, not by Utah.
  • Whether you need a paper apostille instead, since digital delivery is optional.
